Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra) is a vigorous ornamental oak tree native to North America, appreciated for its fast growth, large lobed leaves and impressive autumn colours.
In autumn, the foliage develops beautiful shades of red, copper and brown, making it one of the most decorative oaks for seasonal colour. The tree forms a strong trunk and broad crown, giving it a majestic presence in parks, large gardens and landscape planting.
Northern Red Oak is well suited to deep, well-drained soils and performs best in neutral to acidic conditions. It generally dislikes very calcareous or waterlogged soils.
