Pakistan Seedless Persimmon Tree is an early astringent kaki variety appreciated for its hardiness and reliability in cooler climates. It is considered one of the easier persimmon varieties to ripen successfully each year in regions north of the Loire.
The fruit is astringent, meaning it must be eaten fully soft, dried, or treated after harvest to remove astringency. Once properly ripened, the flesh becomes sweet and pleasant, as is typical of astringent kaki varieties.
Astringency can also be removed using alcohol vapour or other post-harvest treatments, allowing the fruit to be eaten before it becomes completely soft. Drying is another excellent way to enjoy persimmons, especially when fruit maturity is incomplete.
Pakistan Seedless is hardy during winter dormancy and generally resistant in cultivation. It also tends to break bud slightly later than average, which can be an advantage in areas exposed to late spring frosts.
For best fruit quality, plant Pakistan Seedless in a warm, sunny and sheltered position, especially in cooler regions. Regular watering during dry periods in the first years after planting and keeping the base weed-free will help the tree establish strongly.
Our Pakistan Seedless persimmon trees are produced in different forms and on different rootstocks, including Diospyros lotus for broad soil adaptation and quick establishment, and Diospyros virginiana for improved tolerance to very dry or very wet soil conditions.
