Lebedinaya Sheya fig tree produces large figs of over 100 g, with green and brown skin.
The flesh is excellent, sweet and fragrant. As with all figs, the best flavour is obtained when the fruit is picked at full maturity, when it becomes soft and honey-like.
This is a uniferous variety, producing one main autumn crop. Its autumn figs ripen very early, from mid-August, which helps secure a harvest each year.
Harvest can continue progressively until the last figs ripen. If the tree keeps growing and producing new figs along the shoots, fruiting may continue until late October.
Lebedinaya Sheya does not produce breba figs, which are generally less flavourful and more exposed to spring frosts.
This variety is resistant. Its name means “swan neck”, and it originates from Russia, in the Volga Delta, which is an indication of its cold hardiness.
We produce our fig trees in pots. Plants grown in anti-spiral root pots have a less tangled root system, helping good establishment after planting.
