Small-Leaved Lime Tree (Tilia cordata) is a beautiful native European tree appreciated for its elegant habit, fragrant summer flowering and excellent value for bees and other pollinating insects.
The flowers are highly melliferous and produce a sweet fragrance, making this species one of the most valuable trees for pollinators during the flowering season. The young tender leaves can also be eaten in salads.
Small-Leaved Lime is native across much of Eurasia and can eventually reach around 15 metres in height, depending on soil and growing conditions. It is suitable for gardens, avenues, parks, hedgerows and naturalistic planting schemes.
The tree can also be regularly pruned, pollarded or managed as a traditional “têtard” tree to maintain a more moderate size and encourage fresh growth.
Our Small-Leaved Lime trees are available in several sizes, from young plants to nursery-trained trees depending on current stock.
