M27 Apple Rootstock is one of the most dwarfing apple rootstocks available, producing trees significantly smaller than M.9. It is particularly suitable for compact gardens, container growing and very high-density orchard systems.
Trees grafted onto M27 generally reach only around 20–30% of the vigour of seedling rootstocks, resulting in very compact growth and early fruit production. Due to its weak vigour, permanent staking and fertile well-irrigated soils are usually required for good performance.
M27 is especially appreciated for patio fruit trees, miniature orchard systems and situations where maximum size control is desired. It performs best with moderately vigorous apple varieties and careful orchard management.
