Muscat Bleu grapevine produces large blue grapes with an excellent muscat aroma, spicy notes and a crisp texture.
It is a good alternative to the traditional Muscat de Hambourg, especially in regions north of the Loire, where Muscat de Hambourg can be more difficult to ripen and is more sensitive to disease.
Muscat Bleu is one of the most resistant grape varieties, with resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew and even botrytis.
Its resistance to botrytis makes it possible to leave the grapes on the vine for around three extra weeks if a higher sugar level is desired.
Harvest takes place from the second half of August to mid-September, depending on the desired sugar level and the season.
Budbreak and flowering are fairly late, helping the vine avoid late spring frosts.
Muscat Bleu is a vigorous, robust variety with an upright growth habit.
It originates from Switzerland and is also known as Muscat Bleu Garnier or Garnier.
We supply Muscat Bleu as a grafted grapevine plant, bare-rooted and of professional quality.
