Charles Roux Peach Tree is an old French peach variety appreciated for its large attractive fruit, good flavour and reliable orchard qualities.
The peaches are round and well coloured, with red skin over a yellow-green background. The flesh is white, sometimes slightly yellow or red-streaked, fine, tender, juicy and sweet. The stone separates well from the flesh, making the fruit suitable for fresh eating, jams, compotes, pastries and other culinary uses.
Charles Roux is a self-fertile variety with good vigour and a semi-spreading habit. It generally ripens from late July to early August depending on local climate conditions.
This variety is also valued for its relative resistance to peach leaf curl, monilia, shot-hole disease and late spring frosts, making it an interesting choice for traditional orchards and gardens.
