White Mulberry Tree (Morus alba) is an attractive ornamental and fruiting tree related to the fig family. It is appreciated for its large decorative leaves, which may be entire or deeply lobed depending on the individual plant.
As these plants are grown from seed, they are not a selected fruiting variety. Female trees may produce mulberries, while male trees produce pollen only. The fruit quality can therefore vary: some seedlings may produce fairly neutral fruit, while others can be a pleasant surprise.
White mulberry is an interesting tree for gardens, poultry runs and smallholdings, as the ripe fruit naturally falls to the ground and is often highly appreciated by chickens and other poultry.
For strong establishment and vigorous growth, Morus alba benefits from regular watering, good fertility and a weed-free planting area during the first years. Mulching or a biodegradable mulch mat can help reduce weed competition and improve growth.
Our white mulberry trees are available in several forms, from young maidens to standard trees, depending on current nursery stock.
