Fruit tree protection net Flexguard helps protect young fruit trees from damage caused by wildlife, including rabbits, hares and field voles.
When the base is buried a few centimetres into the soil, it can also help protect the collar of the tree from field vole damage.
This protection is wrapped around the trunk, which makes it easier to install on trees that already have branches. Unlike sock-shaped tree guards, it does not need to be slipped over the tree from the top.
The standard Flexguard model is 55 cm high and suitable for trunks of around 2 to 6 cm in diameter. It has a density of 48 g per linear metre and a mesh size of 3 × 3 mm.
Wider and longer versions are also denser, with densities of 82 g/m and 120 g/m depending on the model.
One of the advantages of this protection is that it can be removed and fitted again, for example when suckers need to be removed from the base of the tree.
