Beurre Superfin is a classic French pear, known for its melting sweet juicy flesh. The English pomologist Robert Hogg, writing in 1884. described Beurre Superfin as "one of the finest pears in cultivation".

Growing and Training

Beurre Superfin is generally reliable and easy to grow - but it needs a warm sheltered climate. If you are in the south-east of the UK you should be successful. In other areas it would be worth considering Beth, which is closely related, but better-suited to the UK climate.

Beurre Superfin was raised at Angers, France, in the 1840s.
