(BA-29, BA-29C)
BA29 is a semi-vigorous precocious rootstock for pears, derived from the Provence quince. Quince rootstocks are widely used for producing semi-dwarf and semi-vigorous European pear trees, but note they are not compatible with all varieties.
BA29 produces a mature tree with a height of 3m - 4m.
Trees grafted on BA29 can be planted as bushes or small half-standards, spaced 3.5m - 4m apart. This is also a good rootstock for grafting large fan and espalier pear trees.
Rootstocks are usually 8-10mm grade, the best size for grafting. Please order by January for delivery in February - March. If you wish to order a large number of rootstocks please contact us.
Let me know when BA29 pear rootstocks are back in stock.
If you do not hear from us by March you can contact us to pre-order for next autumn.
