Noberte is a traditional small plum from the Avesnois and Ardennes regions, particularly valued for processing. Beneath its slightly bitter blue-black skin, the translucent green flesh is juicy, sweet, sharp and aromatic. Exceptionally hardy, it is excellent for pies, preserves and drying. Its clinging stone and small size make it less convenient for fresh eating.

Description

Noberte is a traditional culinary plum, thought to originate from the Ardennes region. It has a sharp flavour which becomes rich and tangy when cooked. It is ideal for jams, preserves, and plum tarts.

The attractive dark-blue plums are small in size but borne in abundance. The flesh is a yellow/green, and the stone clings to the flesh.

Noberte shares many characteristics with the damson-style plums found in England and can be used for similar purposes.
