Saint Jean d'Hardelot produces small, but very fragrant sweet golden yellow pears. It is a very early variety and the fruit is generally ready to pick at the end of June or early July, so it is a good variety to start off your summer of fruit production.
Like all early pear varieties, Saint Jean d'Hardelot pear will not keep long so they are best eaten straight from the tree.
Saint Jean d'Hardelot is very vigorous and usually grows with an attractive shape. If grafted on a vigorous rootstock it should be long-lived.
As the name suggests this variety was discovered growing in the French coastal town of Hardelot on the English Channel, and it makes a good choice for windy situations.
