Colt is a semi-vigorous rootstock, compatible with all varieties of sweet cherries and many sour cherries.
Colt produces a mature tree with a height between 3m - 5m, and fruit production should start at the age of 3-4 years. No staking is required once the tree is established.
Trees grafted on Colt rootstock can be spaced 4m-5m apart in the orchard.
Colt can be used to produce large cherry bushes, half-standards, and large cherry fans.
If you are planting a mixed fruit orchard it is useful to know that trees grafted on Colt are likely to be roughly similar in size to apple trees on MM111 and pear trees on PyroDwarf.
Rootstocks are usually 8-10mm grade, the best size for grafting. Please order by January for delivery in February - March. If you wish to order a large number of rootstocks please contact us.
