Morettini is one of the best-flavoured early-season pears for eating fresh, with a juicy sweet flesh. It is related to Williams (also known as Bartlett) and inherits that variety's productivity and sweet flavour.

Growing and Training

Like many pears Morettini should be handled very gently, as it bruises easily (and bruised pears will not keep). The pears should be picked just before they are ripe and stored in a fridge, where they will keep for a few weeks. As soon as you see a hint of the skin colour changing from green it is time to pick them, this will usually be in August.
