G.41 apple rootstocks

G.41 is a dwarfing rootstock for apples, similar in vigour to M9, but capable of heavier yields.

It was developed in the USA and as a result has excellent cold-hardiness and disease-resistance, including reistance to fireblight and wooly apple aphid.

Trees on G.41 generally have wide branch angles and good fruit size.

G.41 has brittle roots and the graft union can be weak. For this reason permanent support is necessary.

Trees can be spaced just 1m apart for commercial plantings, i.e. 3000 trees per hectare. However 2m - 3m between the trees will be a more relaxed spacing for small growers.
