Aromatnaya quince trees

Cydonia oblonga
Aromatnaya is listed in the RHS Plants for Pollinators
  • Self-fertility: Self-fertile

Aromatnaya is a heavy-cropping self-fertile quince.

Although primarily a fruit for cooking with, Aromatnaya is also one of the few quinces that can be eaten raw.

The fruits should be picked and then left to ripen for a few days in a fruit bowl. They have a tropical flavour, somewhat reminiscent of melon or pineapple. They add an unusual touch if grated thinly on to fruit salads.
